Elected officials and concerned citizens embrace all aspects of betterment for the community by collectively working together with city, county, and state officials, along with a host of organizations and committees to make sure that New Bern remains a wonderful place to live, work ,and visit.

    Our city officials are consistently busy pursuing a positive direction our community. Over the past 40 years, New Bern has experienced substantial growth in both population and what the city has to offer its residents and visitors. To learn more click here.

    New Bern, NC is the county seat of Craven County. The courthouse and other judicial buildings are located in downtown New Bern. In 1990 the Craven County Board of Commissioners was expanded from five to seven members. Currently, all Commissioners are elected by district. Over the years, Craven County Commissioners have not only been leaders in the local community, but also active across the state and nationally through their professional organizations, North Carolina Association of County Commissioners and National Association of Counties.
