Special Conditions: Schedule will be flexible to include some evening, weekend and on-call work that will be necessary.
Riposo Home is a non-profit organization that supports a community care home dedicated to providing compassionate care that honors and respects each individual’s unique desires while nearing end-of-life. Our mission is to create an environment where each person can experience their final days with dignity and comfort through providing personalized attention. We offer compassionate care-based services with no financial burden to the residents or their family. In addition to our care services, Riposo Home is committed to promoting practices that celebrate mindful and meaningful living and dying, for families and communities within Craven and Pamlico Counties in North Carolina.
 
Position Overview:
Riposo Home is seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Director to lead our organization into its next phase of growth and impact. The Executive Director will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, managing operations, fostering stakeholder relationships, and ensuring the financial sustainability of the organization.  An appreciation and understanding of End-Of-Life Care will be important. 
General Duties: 

  • Engage the community and promote the Riposo Home mission by seeking and creating ways to represent the organization publicly through speaking engagements, media relations, and networking opportunities.
  • Oversee all aspects of the management, operation and administration of the house, staff and volunteers.  
  • Work with the Board of Directors to fulfill the RIPOSO HOME mission and ensure ongoing strategic planning.
  • This position will cover all aspects of the needs for the initial development of the home at the onset.
  • Possess an attitude of sincere gratefulness for all aspects of life.
Functional Duties:
  • Provide quality oversight of provision of care to guests and families.
  • Oversee administration of the house, staff and volunteers.
  • Provide quality oversight of the Education Program.
  • Understand the deep need for monitoring and addressing the mental health needs of all staff and volunteers as well as self, to enhance the health of all and prevent burn-out.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing, establish salaries within the budget approved by the Board.
  • Oversee, support and facilitate annual evaluations of management staff in role performance.
  • Assure fund development efforts are adequate to ensure needed resources are available for the organization.
  • Cooperate with the Board of Directors to develop and assure the implementation of procedures for accounting, control and audit of funds in accordance with sound financial practices. 
  • Oversee organizational insurance management.
  • Cooperate with the Board of Directors in preparation, oversight and analysis of operating budget. 
  • Work with the Board to anticipate and identify fundraising needs as well as assist in imagining, create and facilitate fundraising opportunities. 
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, partners, volunteers, and other referring partners to support the organization's mission and programs.
  • Work with the Board to identify and track trends in donations, costs, guest demographics and other categories as needed to meet the development of RIPOSO HOME goals.
  • Provide support to Board committees.
  • Maintain positive relationships with other end-of-life service providers on both local and national levels.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as adherence to best practices in nonprofit management and governance.
  • Assume on-call duties within the administrative staff rotation.
  • Maintain current Craven County Food Handler’s Permit.
  • Maintain current NC Secretary of State Notary Certification.
  • Maintain compliance with Pamlico and Craven County Public Health Department’s infection control policies.  
Requirements:
  • Passion for the mission and values of Riposo Home.
  • Previous exposure and understanding regarding dynamics of end-of-life care and dying.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong relationship building skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred.
  • Experience with non-profit organizations and human resources management (at least 5 years preferred).
  • Strong computer skills including MS Word, MS excel, Publisher, and data management.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks. simultaneously in a competent and professional manner with a strong aptitude for detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and emergency situations with a calming, compassionate presence.
  • Proven track record of successful strategic planning, fundraising, and financial management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience creating engaging onboarding programs and intermittent training sessions.
  • Complete required RIPOSO HOME training and periodic updates.
  • Pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds.
