The New Bern Breakfast Rotary Club has announced the return of the annual BSH/Oktoberfest to the Riverfront Convention Center in New Bern. The charity event will be held on Saturday, September 27th from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm. The fundraiser will begin with New Bern Mayor Jeffrey Odham performing the “Tapping of the Keg” Major Sponsor: Four years ago, BSH became the Title Sponsor of our annual Oktoberfest, and we changed the title to reflect their major donation of support for this event. Chief Technical Officer Andrew MacLaren was so impressed with the success of the event that he suggested adding a Tapping the Keg pre-event, a tradition at the Oktoberfest weeks-long celebration in Germany in late September and early October. He agreed to a major increase in funding support if we arranged this pre-event as an introduction to our own festivities here in New Bern. This year will be the fifth year that BSH has agreed to be our Title Sponsor. Our President Dave Super exclaims, "Andrew MacLaren represents a company that cares about New Bern. His personal dedication to community involvement is obvious and has been recognized and rewarded for all he and BSH does for the community in addition to supporting the Rotary Club of New Bern Breakfast. We are certainly honored they have chosen to be our Title Sponsor of this signature fundraiser for our club." Moreover, BSH and Bosch Home Appliances have generously supported many other area events and organizations, showing how much they care about Craven County. Thanks to BSH and Andy MacLaren, their sponsorship allows our club to fund Kicks-4-Kids, ten scholarships, and make possible our own charitable contributions to many other local non-profits and activities in our community. Andy is looking forward to welcoming everyone to the Craven County Convention Center on Saturday evening, September 27. BSH/Oktoberfest Chair, Ramona Stoner, says that doors will open at 5:30 PM and Andy will make brief welcoming remarks around 6:00 PM. Details and tickets are available at newbernrotary.org. The third year for our Tapping The Keg event is on Wednesday, September 24, and we’re pleased that it is sponsored this year by Pecheless Auto Group at Brewery 99, starting at 5:30 PM. Mayor Odham will be on hand to do the traditional honors and officially start our annual celebration.
