ThriveMore is pleased to announce plans for Brice Pointe, a new Life Plan Community coming to New Bern, North Carolina, with an anticipated opening in 2030. Designed to meet the needs of a growing senior population in the region, Brice Pointe will offer independent living, assisted living, memory support, and long-term nursing care on a beautifully planned campus overlooking Carolina Lake.
For decades, organizations, leadership and community members across Eastern North Carolina have supported ThriveMore’s mission. The organization’s expansion into New Bern reflects both that longstanding connection and the area’s clear need for a comprehensive senior living option.
“New Bern has a deep sense of community and a need for senior living choices that offer both independence and long-term security,” said Reed VanderSlik, President and CEO of ThriveMore. “Brice Pointe gives us the opportunity to bring our mission to a region that has supported us for generations. We’re excited to create a place where older adults can live with purpose, connection, and peace of mind in a setting that highlights the natural beauty and culture of Eastern North Carolina.”
A Lifestyle Rooted in Wellness, Connection, and Natural Beauty
Set on 70 scenic acres, Brice Pointe will offer access to lake activities, walking trails, outdoor dining, and conveniently adjacent to the community, though not a part of it, are golf, pickleball, tennis, and fitness amenities within Carolina Colours. These resort-style features, along with New Bern’s vibrant cultural, create an atmosphere where residents can stay active and engaged.
Residents will have their choice of 150 independent living apartments, 52 villas and cottages, and 18 healthcare units, with room for future expansion. The community will also feature a universal-care approach designed to support residents who need assisted living or long-term care without requiring multiple moves. This approach enhances continuity, comfort, and dignity as health needs change.
A Positive Impact for the New Bern Community
Beyond serving older adults and their families, Brice Pointe is expected to contribute significantly to the local economy. Once fully operational, the community will create an estimated 150-200 permanent jobs, supporting healthcare, hospitality, and administrative roles. Its location places it near existing retail, schools, emergency services, and recreational amenities that strengthens the area’s appeal for residents and visitors alike.
“ThriveMore’s mission has always centered on helping older adults live meaningful, fulfilling lives,” added VanderSlik. “With Brice Pointe becoming our fifth senior living community in North Carolina, ThriveMore remains committed to providing exceptional care, fostering community, and supporting whole-person wellbeing across every campus.”
LCS Joins as Development Partner ThriveMore has selected LCS, one of the nation’s leading senior living development and management organizations, to partner on the planning and execution of Brice Pointe.
“LCS is proud to partner with ThriveMore on Brice Pointe, and we’re bringing more than five decades of senior living leadership and development experience to support this important community,” said Lucas Schall, Project Development Manager at LCS. “Our team understands what it takes to plan and launch Life Plan Communities that thrive both culturally and financially.
