About Us

The Coastal Carolina Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) is dedicated to empowering individuals who are blind or have low vision by fostering independence, advocating for equal opportunities, and educating the public to break down the misconceptions surrounding blindness.

Founded in 1940, the NFB is the largest organization led by blind and low-vision individuals. Our guiding philosophy is simple: “It is not blindness that defines us nor our future. You can live the life you want—blindness is not what holds you back.” Since receiving our official charter in September 2016, the Coastal Carolina Chapter has been an active force in the community. Through fundraising efforts, we provide opportunities for our members to attend state and national NFB conventions, as well as other educational and training activities . These experiences equip our members with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to serve as advocates and mentors for others facing vision loss.
Additionally, we collaborate with various charitable organizations to further expand our impact. Your generous donation will directly support these initiatives, allowing us to continue empowering individuals, fostering independence, and creating a more inclusive society.
